Getting to Italy

Puglia is located in the southern peninsula of Italy, and is commonly referred to as the “heel of Italy’s boot." The wedding festivities will take place in Fasano, a charming town in Puglia that is situated in the province of Brindisi. Fasano is known for its rich history, picturesque landscapes, and traditional Apulian architecture.

For those of you eager to make the most of the long holiday weekend (Monday, September 2nd is Labor Day!), there are affordable flights available from multiple European cities to Bari. As food for thought, you can fly directly to Bari from Milan, Naples, Rome, London, Paris, and more!

Alternatively, you may choose to embark on a scenic 3.5-hour drive (or train ride) from Naples to Fasano if it better suits your travel plans! As a heads up, it would take 5 hours to drive from Rome to Bari (and 4 hours by speed train).

Flying to Puglia

There are two major airports that service Puglia: Bari and Brindisi. You can fly into either airport, and they both connect to nearly every major city in Europe. Bari is a 50-minute drive from Fasano, and Brindisi is 40-min drive.

There are no direct flights from NYC to Puglia, so the fastest and most efficient way to get to Puglia is to fly to Bari with a brief layover. This route is super easy and highly recommended.

Renting a Car

Upon your arrival at Bari, you'll have the convenience of renting a car directly at the airport. You must pre-book your car to secure availability. The car rental at Bari is a quick 2-minute walk from the airport -- it couldn't be easier!

Renting a car offers you the flexibility to explore the region at your own pace, allowing you to move around freely. However, please note that shuttle services will be provided to/from all wedding events, so renting a car is not essential.

Booking a Private Transfer

If you are not planning on renting a car, we recommend arranging a private transfer to/from the airport. Although it may seem more costly compared to taking a taxi, it is actually the fastest and most hassle-free option to ensure a direct journey to your hotel, with a pre-agreed fare.

Taking the Train

If you prefer public transportation, there are affordable high-speed trains available from both Rome and Naples to Bari. These trains typically cost less than $50 and take approximately 4 hours to get to Puglia. This option is ideal for those who plan to arrive in Rome or Naples, spend a few days exploring the region, and then continue their journey to Puglia without renting a car.

ALL THE ANSWERS

If you have any further questions or concerns, please reach out to the bride or groom!

Do I need a passport?

YES! You must have a valid US passport to enter the EU. Please check the expiration date of your passport, as most countries will not permit a traveler to enter their country unless the passport is set to expire at least six months after the final day of travel. If you do need to renew your passport, it can take up to 12 WEEKS to renew your passport by mail, so please plan ahead.

Do I need a visa?

No! The launch of the new ETIAS travel system for non-EU visitors has been officially delayed until spring 2025. Nothing to worry about here!

Do you have a hotel block for guests? Where do you recommend I stay?

In the "Hotel & Stay" section of the website, you will find a list of specified hotels that we will be providing transportation to/from for every wedding event. If you choose to book elsewhere, you will be responsible for arranging your own transportation. However, if a large group wants to book a certain hotel/private villa that is close to the wedding venue (Pettolecchia La Residenza), please contact the bride or groom directly to see if this venue can be added to the shuttle schedule.

Where are the wedding events?

All wedding events will be at the Pettolecchia Collection properties. The bride and groom will be staying at Pettolecchia La Residenza with their immediate family, which is where the welcome pool party and wedding will take place. The night before party (aka the rehearsal dinner), will be at Pettolecchia Il Lido, which is a private beach club a few minutes away from the main villa.

Are there taxis in Puglia?

There are no public taxis in Puglia, only cars for private hire. If you decide not to rent a car, it is highly recommended to book a private transfer from/to the airport. Please see the "Travel Details" section of the website for more details.

Do I need to rent a car?

If you're going to spend time in the area, it is highly recommended to rent a car. Not only is renting a car affordable and easy to do, but it provides you with the most flexible means to explore the beautiful southern region of Italy. Unlike certain European cities, navigating Puglia by car is not challenging (trust us, we have done it ourselves!), making it an enjoyable and convenient option for transportation. That being said, we will be providing transportation to/from all the wedding events, so renting a car is not required.

What is the attire for the welcome pool party?

Casual poolside chic! Feel free to wear a swimsuit and cover up or a summer dress. We want everyone to be comfortable while lounging by the pool, playing games, enjoying local bites, gelato, and cocktails!

What is the attire for the rehearsal dinner?

Beach chic cocktail. Men should opt for a relaxed yet sophisticated look with linen shirts or a button down, pants, loafers or a stylish sandal. Jackets are optional.

What is the attire for the wedding?

Formal! Women, this means full or floor length evening dresses. Men, think stylish suits (in any color), but no tuxes.

What will the weather be like in Puglia?

The average temperature in Fasano in September for a typical day ranges from a high of 80°F (26°C) to a low of 69°F (21°C). Some would describe it as pleasantly warm with a gentle breeze. Since the wedding is the first week of September, we are expecting it to be pretty warm. Definitely pack your swimsuits and light clothes!

Anything else I should know?

1.. Don't forget to bring an EU travel plug adapter!
2. For the ladies: If your hair straightener is not dual voltage, do not try to use it in Europe.
3. You *must* leave your Dyson machine (Airwrap or blow dryer) at home as it will break it due to the high voltage. :(

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
